Personality

Personality: She is sociable when approached, however dislikes too much attention focused on her. She is most likely to avoid large groups where she is likely to be singled out and will generally keep quiet. Since most of the mutations were physical, her human thoughts have remained intact. Despite her disrupted childhood, she has gained some maturity on her own and from other mutants.

Likes: Hiking and exploration, swimming, being around familiar people, Kahl.
Dislikes: Needles, loud noises, ceilings, being insulted or rejected.

Fears: Death of Kahl or a friend, rejection by parents, getting stuck in mud/quicksand

Abilities

Main Power: Is much stronger than she looks and can easily lift a reasonably sized person with one arm. Can also partially lift a large car with some difficulty.
Secondary Powers:

-Her healing is much better than that of humans

How They Work: Her strength, speed, and hearing come from her giraffe anatomy, giving her stronger muscles than she would otherwise appear. Her centauroid anatomy gives her two hearts, meaning she can heal twice as fast as a normal human.

Main Flaw: Is large, bulky, tall, and can barely fit inside most rooms.
Secondary Flaws:
-Despite being stronger than she looks, she's still as fragile as she looks and, specifically her leg bones, tend to break easily. And although she can carry maybe one average-sized person on her back, any more weight and she has problems supporting herself.
-She requires a lot of food and water intake, much more than that of a typical bird hybrid.

How They Affect Her: Her size and anatomy more or less guarantee she will never blend in with humans. Her size while inside will often cause her to clumsily knock things over and bump into other people, all while she has to keep her lower half bent down.

History

Before birth: Shannon was selected even before she was born for testing as a human/giraffe hybrid. Thinking her child was going to be used as subject for a new cancer-eliminating drug, her mother signed up to be given injections for her unborn child. In actuality, the injections contained giraffe DNA.
Birth: Shannon was, on the outside and inside, born a relatively normal, healthy child, her general hair color and facial features not completely unlike hers now.
Childhood/Pre-Teens: As time went on, Shannon continued to be ah healthy as can be. To her parents, the drugs seem to have worked. But what had actually happened began to unfurl when she was seven years old. During a physical, the doctors ran a genetic makeup test and found out her genetic code contained only 90% human DNA. Coming as a surprise to her, the doctors, and her parents, she was hospitalized for more tests. It was at this point she was unwillingly "borrowed" to be mutated and tested on for a government program. She was then subjected to testing to ready her for a life as a military supersoldier along with her cellmates Pegasus and Gallus. At age 12, the lab she was kept in was attacked by a hacker organization who shut down all security systems and locks: leading to a massive jailbreak. The understaffed facility was easily overrun and its occupants scattered into the wind by the time the FBI got involved, sending the government into a civil war over the legality of the facility. After wandering the forest and industrial areas of the state for about a month, Shannon came across a man who had recently escaped prison after being framed for killing his neighbor. The two soon learned each others' stories and he took her in as his own daughter.
Teens: They traveled the county in an RV, where she bonded with her new father figure and felt truly at home. Although she was almost always in the RV, she loved seeing the world and the sights go past her window. After two years, at a truck stop in Utah, the man was arrested and he was carted off to Rikers Island Prison. Although Shannon managed to escape, she was alone again. She wandered the nearby wilderness. After some time, she came across the camp and was taken under their wings (almost literally), bringing her much happiness that she may have found a nice home. There she soon met her boyfriend Kahl, and although she was happy for the time they were in the wilderness, once the camp moved to Manhattan, she found her exploration area cut down and her freedom limited due to her appearance, being in such close proximity to a city.
